AI that can control your Mac: the options in 2026

It is 4:50 on a Friday and there are still six invoices to enter, each one a PDF on one screen and a form on the other. Yes, an AI can now do that clicking for you on a Mac, and the one built for exactly this is Incredible: hold a key, say the task, and it works in the apps you already have open.

Claude and ChatGPT can click around a Mac too now, from their own desktop apps, and Apple's new Siri acts inside Apple's apps. Everything below about them comes from each company's own documentation, read on 4 October 2026.

What it looks like when you ask Incredible

You hold the fn key and talk the way you would to a colleague sitting next to you: "Book this invoice in Fortnox and file the PDF under Suppliers." Incredible sees the window in front of you, so "this invoice" is enough. It clicks and types in your browser, files and apps until the job is done, and it stops to ask before anything is sent.

It works in your own Chrome, or Edge, already signed in as you. That includes the supplier portal and the niche web app your team runs on that nothing else connects to, and it uploads the file into the form for you. With an Excel sheet or a slide open, you point at the part that is wrong and say what it should be.

Can Claude and ChatGPT control a Mac too?

They can, from inside their own apps.

Claude calls it computer use. Its support page says it is a beta for the Pro and Max plans in the Claude desktop app, on macOS and Windows, switched on under Settings, General, and it asks before it opens each app. Since September 2026 Cowork and chat are one Claude app (Anthropic). ChatGPT calls it Computer Use too. Its documentation says it works with ChatGPT Work and Codex in the desktop app on macOS and Windows: you install the Computer Use plugin, allow Screen Recording and Accessibility, and mention @Computer or the app's name in your request. Siri AI came with macOS 27. Apple's page says it can "get things done across your apps to send messages, create events, and more" on a Mac with M1 or later. It is a beta, in English to start, and works best in Mail, Messages and Calendar.

macOS only lets an app click and type after you allow it in System Settings. Claude and ChatGPT ask for Accessibility, so the app can click and type, and Screen Recording, so it can see the window. Incredible asks for the microphone, accessibility, Finder and your browser, and screen reading. For your first few runs, pick a job that is easy to undo and watch it work.
