The Vibe Computing Manifesto

For 50 years, humans learned how to operate computers. Now computers are learning how to operate themselves. We just have to tell them what we want.

1.2 billion people work at computers. Most of that work is clicking, copying, pasting, writing, searching, and moving information between software.

AI can do that work. Today.

But wrapping your head around AI is hard. What it can do. What it can’t. How to ask. Where it fits.

It’s yet another complicated system to learn.

So people fear it, and whether deliberately or not, resist to adopt it.

AI’s benefit goes to the few who make it their full-time job to learn it. Everyone else is told to adapt.

That’s backwards. 1.2 billion people are not going to accept this.

AI must be easier to use than the computer itself.

One interface clears that bar.

Voice.

You say what you want done. The computer does it on your screen, in front of you.

Nothing to learn. Nothing to configure. Nothing to fear.

If it’s wrong, you say so. It fixes it.

Voice is the most human thing there is. We already know how to talk.

For 50 years, we adapted to computers. Now they adapt to us.

This is Vibe Computing.

You talk. The computer works.
