Settings

Where each setting is, and what it does. Microphone, volume, voice, language, shortcuts and the rest.

Open Settings from your name at the bottom of the sidebar, or from Settings… in the menu bar menu. Settings has its own search box at the top.

Microphone

Settings › General › Microphone. Pick which microphone Incredible listens through. Built-in mic is recommended, even with AirPods in. Auto-detect follows your computer's setting. A live meter shows whether it hears you.

Incredible cannot hear me

  1. Open Settings › General › Microphone and speak. The meter should move.
  2. If it says the microphone is blocked, allow it on a Mac in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Microphone.
  3. If you speak quietly, try Settings › Incredible › Experimental › Microphone boost. Step it down if your voice sounds distorted.

Volume

Settings › General › Volume. How loud Incredible speaks, with a Hear it button and a mute button. Muted, replies still show on screen. You can also mute from the speaker button on the top bar.

Sound effects

Settings › System › Sound. Mute sound effects turns off the little sounds when you start talking, stop or get a reply. Mute sound while you talk silences music and video while Incredible listens.

Speaking voice

Settings › Incredible › Voice › Speaking voice. Choose a female or male voice, and press Hear it to listen. To stop spoken replies, mute the volume.

Language

Settings › General › Dictation language is the languages you speak, so Incredible understands you. Left empty, it is detected as you speak. Settings › Incredible › Voice › Speaking language is the language Incredible replies in.

Shortcuts

Settings › General › Shortcuts. Click Change, then click a shortcut's keys and press the new ones. The Shortcuts guide lists every key.

Hey Incredible

Settings › Incredible › Experimental. Say "Hey Incredible" to start talking instead of holding the key. It is not available on every computer.

Passive mode

Settings › Incredible › Voice › Automatic passive mode. When you have not talked to Incredible for a while (5 minutes unless you change it), new results wait quietly on the top bar instead of being spoken. Hover the top bar to hear them.

Permissions

On a Mac, Incredible needs the microphone, accessibility, Finder and your browser, and screen reading. Until all are allowed, a red banner in the app opens the list. On Windows they are managed for you.

Start automatically and the top bar

Settings › System. Start automatically opens Incredible when you turn on your computer. Show top bar on hover opens the bar when you move your mouse to the top of the screen.

Updates

Settings › System › About, or Check for Updates… in the menu bar menu.

Chat history and reset

Settings › System. Clear chat history removes your chats. Reset Incredible on this computer signs you out and resets permissions, settings and chats.

Data and privacy

Settings › Data and privacy. Your data is never used to train AI models, and your conversations stay on your computer. You can turn off sending usage and diagnostics data.
