AI for Dynamics AX, by voice
Microsoft Dynamics AX, once called Axapta, is the on-premise ERP that many mid-market and larger companies still run for finance, manufacturing, and distribution, usually on a heavily customized AX 2009 or AX 2012. Incredible works inside the AX client and does the repeat data entry, lookups, and report runs for you, by voice.

In short
- Works inside the Dynamics AX client you already run, including AX 2009 and AX 2012, with no add-in to install.
- Handles the repetitive parts by voice: create sales and purchase orders, post inventory, look up a customer, run a report.
- Record a task once and Incredible repeats it, so your custom AX forms and fields do not trip it up.
- Asks before it posts or saves anything, and keeps a record you can check later.
- Since AX 2009 and 2012 are past Microsoft support, it adds help on top without touching the system.
What you can say
“Create a sales order for Halvorsen, 40 units of item M-220.”
Order built on the AX form. Post it?
“Post a purchase order receipt for PO 000451.”
Lines received. Confirm to post.
“Look up the on-hand for item M-220 in the main warehouse.”
On-hand and reserved, read back.
“Create a free text invoice for Delaney, consulting, 12 hours.”
Invoice drafted. Approve to post?
“Add a new customer using our standard account setup.”
Fields filled from the template. Save it?
“Pull open sales orders for customer Halvorsen this quarter.”
Open orders listed with amounts.
“Run the inventory aging report and export it to Excel.”
Report exported and tidied for you.
“Release the production order for batch B-77.”
Ready to release. Want me to go ahead?
How it works
- Hold the key and say what you need, in the words you would use with a colleague.
- Incredible works in the AX client on screen, opening the right form and filling the fields.
- It stops before anything that posts or saves, and shows you the form first.
- You confirm, it finishes, and the step is written to an audit trail.
Incredible vs Microsoft Dynamics AX’s own AI
| Incredible | Dynamics AX on its own | |
|---|---|---|
| Starting a task | Say it out loud | Navigate the AX menu tree to the right form |
| Repetitive entry | Recorded once, repeated on request | Keyed into each form by hand |
| Heavy customizations | Follows the steps on your custom forms | Each tweak means more manual clicks |
| Being past support | Adds help without changing AX | No new features from Microsoft |
| Working across apps | Passes AX data to Excel and email | Stays inside AX |
| Record of what happened | Approval prompt and audit trail | Standard AX logging |
Does Incredible work with Dynamics AX even without an API?
Yes, because Incredible drives the Dynamics AX client on screen the way a person does, so it works even on older AX 2009 and AX 2012 systems that were never given a modern API.
Legacy AX installs are usually deeply customized in X++, and the integration options that shipped with them are dated or switched off. Incredible reads the AX forms and uses the keyboard and mouse, so it works with the system you have now. If you later move to Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, which has proper cloud APIs, those are the more robust route for large unattended jobs, and Incredible can use them too. For the everyday entry and lookups a person does in the AX client, driving the screen is the dependable answer.
How does Incredible keep Dynamics AX changes safe?
Incredible asks for your approval before anything that posts, saves, or releases in AX, and it never commits a change on its own.
You see the completed form before it saves. Lookups and reports run straight through; anything that changes AX waits for your confirmation. Every action lands in an audit trail so you can see which order or invoice was created and when. Because it works through your own signed-in AX session, your existing security roles still decide what is allowed.
How does Incredible handle repetitive AX data entry?
You record yourself doing a task in AX once, talking through it, and Incredible learns the steps so it can repeat that task later on request.
It captures the sequence of steps rather than fixed screen positions, so a custom form, an extra field, or a different company account does not break the run. That is what separates it from an old screen macro that fails the moment a layout shifts. You trigger a recorded task again just by asking.
- Enter a batch of sales orders from a list
- Post purchase order receipts against open orders
- Refresh a stock or aging report into Excel
Questions, answered
Is Incredible an official Microsoft product?
No. There is no partnership, integration, or endorsement from Microsoft. Incredible is an independent assistant that works your existing Dynamics AX screens.
Does Incredible replace Dynamics AX?
No. Dynamics AX stays your system of record. Incredible automates the repetitive entry, posting, and reporting people do inside it.
Which versions of Dynamics AX does this work with?
It works with the AX client on your screen, including AX 2009 and AX 2012 and their R2 and R3 updates. Because it drives the interface, it is not limited to one version.
Our AX is very customized. Is that a problem?
No. Incredible follows the steps of a task on whatever forms you have, so custom fields and layouts are fine. If a form changes, a recorded task keeps working because it learns the steps, not the pixels.
AX is out of Microsoft support now. Does this help?
Yes. Mainstream support for AX 2009 and 2012 ended years ago, so you are unlikely to get new features from Microsoft. Incredible adds day-to-day help on top without changing the system you rely on.
Do we need to install anything into AX?
No. There is no add-in or code to deploy inside AX. Incredible runs as a desktop app next to the AX client and works through your normal session.
Does it follow our AX security?
Yes. It acts inside your own signed-in session, so it can only do what your roles already allow.
Can it help while we plan a move to Dynamics 365?
Yes. Plenty of teams stay on AX while planning the move to Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, and Incredible takes the repetitive work off people during that time.
